Our Teams of Volunteers

Management Team

The Management Team supports, encourages, resources and oversees all Exodus Community activities and ensures the viability of the Community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Liaison with the parish and supporting organisations.

  • Dealing with official business matters and finance.

  • Overseeing OH&S issues and all Team procedures.

  • Engaging, resourcing and training volunteers. All Exodus volunteers require a “Working with Children Check”.

  • Supporting those wishing to experience an educational placement with Exodus.

  • Promoting Exodus and its activities through Facebook and Newsletter

The Management Team meets monthly.

Requests for support and for use of the Exodus 12 seat bus can be made to the Management Team.

Youth and Mentoring

Through a variety of activities (many youth led) attempts are made to accommodate the needs of local youth. Outings, camps, mentoring, school/career support and recreation. Loyola College students visit our community once a fortnight to connect with our Primary aged youth Group.

Exodus is always seeking young adults as youth leaders.

Outreach

The Exodus Community offers a presence to local people and some members visit the housebound, the sick and those dealing with various difficult issues. Donated goods, especially non perishable foods, toiletries, laundry and cleaning products, are distributed to local residents by members of the Outreach Team.

Live-in Community members can assist in areas of guidance, welfare, youth ministry, teaching/education, pastoral work and administration.

Program Coordinator

In this role, Liz Wake supports volunteers and has oversight of programs and compliance issues.

Advocacy

Exodus Community volunteers advocate on behalf of many, including those needing assistance with various institutions and organisations: Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH), Centrelink, Hospitals, Schools, Courts and Police.

Some Exodus Community volunteers are also members of Residents Group 3081, which supports local people especially with housing issues. You can contact Residents Group 3081 on residentsgroup3081@gmail.com

Faith Development Team

While Exodus Community members support, respect and encourage people of all - and no - faith backgrounds we do belong to the catholic tradition. The Team prepares and supports a weekly noon Sunday parish Mass held at the Exodus Community Shed.

Prayers also held at 8.30am on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Contact us for more details.

Bread Team

Donated bread is collected each week by our Bread Team, repacked and distributed (mostly by school groups) to local families. Local volunteers share the story of Exodus and the Bread Run as part of a service and ministry program for a number of our partner schools: Marcellin College, Our Lady of Mercy College, Assumption College and Marist Sion College.

Drop In

Each Wednesday a Team of volunteers offer hospitality and hearty lunch to local residents. A great opportunity for support, connection, story telling and meeting new people.

11am - 1:30pm in the Shed.

Education

Exodus is pleased to be able to offer educational and formation opportunities to many. School groups especially, learn about powerlessness, poverty and disadvantage through visits to Exodus where they meet Exodus Community members, local residents, visit the neighbourhood and hear about the works of Exodus.

Exodus accepts Work Experience students.
